  • Fenugreek use with one kidney

I have a mother who has poor milk production. I would like to start her on Fenugreek, but she was a kidney donor and only has one functioning kidney. I cannot find any information about the processing of fenugreek and safety in women with one kidney. Any help is appreciated.

    Dear molsandmeg,

Because fenugreek studies do not show efficacy in increasing prolactin levels or milk production, Dr Hale's opinion is that it would not be worth the risk for this mother.

    Sincerely,
