  • Go-Lacta

My midwife recommended "Go-Lacta" when prednisone decreased my milk supply. I have been taking it and it is helping my supply increase. Are you familiar with this supplement and is there any information available on whether it's safe for long term use? I have to be on prednisone for another 2-3 months.

    Thank you!!

    Newmom:

Go- Lacta is a supplement made from the leaves of the Malunggay tree (moringa oleifera). It is widely cultivated through out the tropics and sub-tropics and has been used for centuries for various medicinal purposes. Moringa is also known for its galactagogue properties which is believed to be in part because earlier studies suggests it increases prolactin levels. Until, more is known of the mechanism of action of malunggay, its transfer into breastmilk, its effect on the infant, and its effectiveness as a galactagogue in larger populations, we recommend some caution.
