Hi Lunamom,
This is an all-too-common question. Many people use this class of drugs (ARB) while breastfeeding and in general, they have a low transfer to the baby. We worry about ACE inhibitors and ARBs in babies who aren't old enough to have developed kidneys (ex: premature neonates), but at three months this shouldn't be a problem. Also, keep in mind that your health is important too!

Telmisartan and breastfeeding?
My pcp prescribed Telmisartan 40 mg 2x day.
other meds haven't helped, and I am 3 months pp.
HBP started the day before baby came, and has been steadily elevated since.
is Telmisartan safe? I can't find any useful info. A pediatrician and lactation specialist said it is not a problem.
thanks!Tags: None
