  • Emetrol for BF Mom?

I had a mother ask me about using Emetrol for her nausea while Breastfeeding. This wasn't listed in MMM and I didn't see it here or the old forum. The active ingredient is a Phosphorated Carbohydrate solution/phosphoric acid. Seems okay, but thought I'd ask.

    Dear Ingrid,

Emetrol is a phosphorated carbohydrate solution. Since it contains carbs, it is not recommended for patients with diabetes. We do not have data on how much of the drug is secreted into breastmilk, but as you have surmised, the ingredients are not at all hazardous to a breastfeeding infant.

    Sincerely,

Emetrol should be fine, it isn't really a medication, it's glucose aka SUGAR, I took it while pregnant at the blessing of my dr, if it's safe while pregnant, it's safe while nursing.
