  • Question concerning Wellbutrin

My PCP recently prescribed wellbutrin xl for me for a long history of depression/anxiety issues. I have tried multiple other medications including celexa, effexor, prozac and paxil without much success over the last 10 years.

My baby is almost 6 months old and only breastfeeds a few times a day (he's anemic and was having poor weight gain while being ebf) so it's easy to schedule my meds around feeding times. My main question is whether or not I should take this as I have a child who had a seizure disorder as an infant and this is contraindicated with seizures.

    Thanks
    Jenn

    Jdoster:

Wellbutrin is probably a suitable choice for your condition, and is probably safe in a breastfeeding infant, AS LONG AS THIS CHILD DOES NOT HAVE A SEIZURE DISORDER. Levels in milk are low and it should be a suitable choice for you.
