  • Adjunctive treatment of anxiety and depression

    Hello,

I’m exclusively pumping & bottle feeding my 4 month old. Currently, I’m taking 200 mg daily of Zoloft for anxiety and depression. My psychiatrist is considering adding Wellbutrin, Effexor, Cymbalta or Remaron. Which of these is the safest? Would you recommend discarding the milk pumped immediately after taking the medication? (This was a suggestion of the psychiatrist.)

    Thank you in advance.

All these are "relatively" ok. I'd suggest Cymbalta or the new Vortioxetine may be suitable choices. Wellbutrin is believed to suppress milk production slightly in some moms. Remaron is heavily sedating but levels in infant are very low. They largely use it at night because of the sedation.
