  • Citalopram and Domperidone

    Hi,
I'm and IBCLC assisting a mother with induced lactation.
The baby is expected in 5 weeks through surrogacy.
The non-pregnant expecting mother is taking Recital (Citalopram) 20 mg daily, and is now considering taking Domperidone to induce lactation.
(the suggested dosage in "Newman-Goldfarb Protocols for Induced Lactation" is 20 mg 4 times per day.)
Are there any contraindications? would it be safe for the mother and the breastfeeding baby?
    Thank you

    LimorP:

Sure, complications for using domperidone are any pre-existing arrhythmias. Also, I do not agree with this high dose. My suggestions are lower, 60 mg/day total.
