  • Chemotherapy drugs in breastmilk

I am being treated for breastcancer, Taxotere/Cytoxan/Herceptin every 3 weeks. I weaned my 2 year old after the diagnosis but he still likes to "knead" my nipples for comfort with his hands and I just discovered that I am still producing small amounts of milk. I minimize any contact with him for 48 hours after the infusions and he does NOT breastfeed. Could the exposure to his skin and inhalation of chemo drugs in drops of milk he might have got on his hands have caused any harm? Thanks

    Ck2015,

We think that there could be some of these cancer agents in your milk and they could be harmful to your toddler and recommend keeping him from coming in contact with your milk.

Thank you, yes I have not allowed him touch my breasts since I discovered milk is still coming out.
How long does it take for Taxotere, Cytoxan and Herceptin, respectively to be cleared from breastmilk? So, that I know when it would be safe to let him touch the breasts again.
      Thanks
