  • Cisplatin

    Hi,
I am currently receiving weekly cisplatin 70 milligrams for 6 weeks. My baby is 3 months old and I've been pumping and dumping. How long do I need to wait to be able to breastfeed my baby again. My doctors have no clue and don't understand me.

    Chandrn:

The data for cisplatin suggests that 30 days is probably a safer interval to return breastfeeding. I just finished a study on Carboplatin, and 20 days seems long enough to wait before returning to breastfeeding.

I too receive 76mg weekly for 5 weeks. However my doctors felt it was safe for me to pump and dump for 48 hours after each cycle before nursing again. I've had 3 cycles thus far but am concerned. Is there a way to have the milk tested? And what possible harm could this cause my 2 1/2 month old if any?
