  • Teflaro

I am working with a breastfeeding mother who has been admitted for Mastitis (Mrsa positive in left breast only, culture from milk of right is negative) and has had an I&D of an abcess in her left breast. Progression of mastitis symptoms on the right breast now. Baby has MRSA in his eye, he is 2 weeks old. Mom was changed from Vancomycin to Teflaro I assume to cover possible Strep along with the resistant Staph. I know Teflaro is a Cephalosporin class but cannot find any information on this specific drug as it relates to breastfeeding. Would the only caution be to watch for GI problem in the baby? She is currently dumping milk from the right (non positive breast) also.
    Thank you.
    Carla
