I was diagnosed with strep 10 days ago and just finished my amoxicillin. My throat still hasn't gotten any better and I went back to the doctor. She prescribed omnicef, but couldn't verify if it was safe for breastfeeding...she simply just stated "ask the pharmacist". Is it safe to take while breastfeeding? My daughter is 6 months old.

    Mama:

The manufacturer reports that in a group of women receiving 600 mg doses, none was found in breastmilk. I think it is probably quite safe to use. Observe for diarrhea in the infant, this occurs about 11% of the time in breastfed babies exposed to antibiotics.
