I have an 8 month old. I've been prescribed to take 500MG Flagyl twice daily for 7 days. Can I keep breastfeeding? Prescribing doctor says no, but pediatrician says yes.

Flagyl
Dear Shelmom,
It is probably same for you to continue breastfeeding while taking Flagyl. Flagyl is a drug that is used in young babies including premature babies at much higher doses than what is transferred through breastmilk. We know that it does transfer into milk quite a bit, however, it has not been linked with any major adverse effects in the baby. Monitor the baby for diarrhea. I hope this is helpful.
