    Hi! I have shingles and was prescribed Valacyclovir. I just want to double check that iy is safe to take. Thanks!

    Erinolszewski thanks for posting,

    Valacyclovir is rated and L1-safest. The amount transferred into breast milk is only 4.7% of your dose. It has a half-life of 2.5-3 hours. The risk to the infant is minimal just monitor the infant for vomiting or diarrhea. I hope this helps if you have any other questions please call the InfantRisk Center at 806-352-2519. Thanks,
