  • pill induced esophogitis(throat ulcer)

Hi, I have a 3 month old that I am exclusively nursing and recently had mastitis. While on a trip i took one of my antibiotics without water and ended up creating an ulcer in my throat. I have seen a gi doctor who said there is nothing I can take nursing. I am going to see a new gi at home tomorrow. I may have to go for a scope. So my questios are how long after twilight sedation can I nurse and are there any meds to take to heal this ulcer. Currently ugly taking prepaid once a day.... other any relief

    Hi, thanks for your post.

The question about twilight sleep really depends on what specific medications they are giving you. In general, those meds leave the blood stream pretty quickly, but I can't say for sure without more information.

There's not much out there that helps to heal an ulcer. Mostly, it comes down to neutralizing or reducing stomach acid, just as you would do for bad heartburn. I discuss medications and lifestyle changes that may be helpful in these three articles.
