  • Breastfeeding 5.5 month old after Oral surgery

I’ll be having oral surgery in a few days and was wondering about breastfeeding my 5.5 month old after. She doesn’t take a bottle so can’t drink pumped milk. They are recommending no feedings for the day but I don’t see how that will work.

    medications are:
    Propofol
    Versed
    Fentanyl
    Zofran
    Toradol
    Dexamethasone
    Clindamycin

After surgery, Amoxicillin. I’ll won’t fill the Norco prescription and will most likely to to just do Advil.

Do I wait 4 hours after I wake from surgery to feed her?

    Thank you!

    Mamaof2,

This is a pretty standard combination for surgery. Our recommendation is to wait 4 hours after you are alert and oriented to breastfeed. The challenge is getting enough calories to maintain production!

that is, it is better not to take topiramate during pregnancy? and is there any proven research on this? I hope the branch is still relevant.
