  • In Vitro procedure and breastfeeding

    Hi,
Is it known when before in-vitro porcedure breastfeeding must be stopped (The clinic says it has to be 6 months without breastfeeding to get the best chance for success, but could not explain why)? My patient wants to undergo last in vitro (because of her age it has to be soon) but she breastfeeds her one-year old and doesn't want to wean that soon. Is there a solution that would maximaze a chance to succeed (she has idiopathic infertility with all hormonal levels perfect during first in-vitro pregnacy) with no weaning or a short break? Any advice is welcome. Thank you in advance.

    Karolina:

I don't know where they got 6 months of no breastfeeding. I'd think a few weeks would be ideal, but to be quite honest, we don't really know the answer to how long you should wait to use Clomiphene therapy AFTER breastfeeding.
