    Hi Dgoulet!
From what we understand, steroids don't pass into breastmilk well. With an RID of 2-5% (how we estimate drug exposure in milk), it is likely breastfeeding on prednisone won't be an issue at your doses. The amount given to a fully breastfed baby will be MUCH less than doses used in infants. There is no need to wait after taking the medication to breastfeed.
Let your pediatrician know the situation, they can monitor your baby's linear growth rate to make sure there are no untoward effects.

    Prednisone and breastfeeding

Hi, I recently got diagnosed with rhumathoid arthritis and my doctor prescribed 30mg of prednisone to take daily that will be reduced of 5mg every two weeks. He told me to wait 4 to 6 hours after taking the medication to safely breastfeed but then my pharmacist told me it wasn't necessary. I just wanted to have your advice. Thank you!
