The InfantRisk Center recommends cariprazine be avoided in breastfeeding women if possible. Possible adverse effects in the infants could include extrapyramidal and/or withdrawal symptoms, including agitation, hypertonia, hypotonia, tremor, somnolence, respiratory distress and feeding disorders.

While this issue has come to the forefront in light of the question of COVID-19 vaccination, it is the same dilemma we have with almost every new drug with regard to pregnancy and lactation. We agree with the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine’s mantra: it’s time we protected these women through research, not from it.

Everyone has been concerned about the presence of Covid-19 in human milk. Several other studies as well as this one have found Covid-19 in human milk. This is the first article I've seen that also studied its ability to induce infection. The covid in these milk samples was apparently not infectious.

Abilify is really popular for treating bipolar symptoms and psychosis, particularly because it causes the least weight gain in patients.

We've known for years that pregnant women that consume Anti-TNF antibodies such as etanercept and many other such drugs, that the transfer of these monoclonal IgG molecules into the fetus is highest during the last trimester of pregnancy. This new study suggests that most moms can stop the use of these drugs in the 30th week of gestation and reduce the exposure of the infant to these drugs and also reduce the moms relapse into Crohn's and Ulcerative colitis. This of course depends on the mom's medical condition.

This article clearly suggests that it may be beneficial to continue breastfeeding and infant in a mother who has been consuming opiates, particularly those dependent on opiates. They suggest it may actually reduce infant withdrawal somewhat.
