    Lamictal and herbal galactagogues

    Dear Dr. Hale:

    Are you aware of any contraindications for taking herbal galactogues while on Lamictal? This mother was exposed to Lasix 3 days ago and has lost some milk and needs to recoup her losses. I want to suggest More Milk Plus, but not sure if it will interfere with the Lamictal (125mg bid).

    I would not under any circumstances, recommend any herbal for a patient on Lamictal. Normally, this drug is used to control seizures. What would the herbal do for her seizure control. No one knows for sure, and I wouldn't want to take the chance.

    It's too risky.
