i am using a 1% ivermectin cream on my face to treat Rosacea. Would this be safe to use during pregnancy?

    chiredhead,

Ivermectin is classified as a P3-unknown, risk to the fetus cannot be ruled out. When used orally Ivermectin does not appear to increase the risk of congenital anomalies but the majority of the literature recommends delaying treatment at least until after the first trimester of pregnancy unless the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus. The product insert for Soolantra (1% ivermectin cream used for rosacea) states there is very little systemic absorption following topical application in adults. We would recommend that if you decide to use this medication in pregnancy that you keep the area small and apply the medication sparingly.
