Chest x-ray and breastfeeding

Hi,

I had a chest x-ray for suspected pneumonia as a breastfeeding mother. Most online resources state that pump/dump is not necessary, but the technician said to pump/dump for 24 hours. Was the technician correct? If not, can you provide any scientific literature citations that document that pump/dump is not necessary following a standard x-ray? Presuming that my information is correct, I would like to provide that to the center in the hopes that they will provide more accurate, less stressful information to future nursing mothers.

If you received NO radiocontrast agents, the X-Rays go through the body and into the machine. Nothing resides in the body. You do NOT have to interrupt breastfeeding at all.

If you received IV radiocontrast agents, you might want to pump and discard the milk once after 2-4 hours, and then return to breastfeeding.
