Analgesic Usage

Analgesics are drugs that are used to relieve pain. Analgesic drugs typically cross the placenta and if given at high doses can lead to respiratory compromise in the newborn. These drugs, which include opioids and other local anesthetics, should be used with caution during labor and delivery.
